| North Zealand for Kings North Zealand will in 2008 become a National Park. The future park has been named "Kungarnas Nordsjälland" (North Zealand for Kings). With its beautiful billowing landscape, white sandy beaches, royal castles, lakes and small picturesque towns, North Zealand has become a very popular tourist destination. Fredensborg Palace This is the summer residence of the Danish Royal Family, and in July, the castle, garden, orangery and church are open for guided tours. There is a unique Baroque garden with wide avenues and 70 beautiful sculptures.  Orchidégartenerie, Fredensborg This is Denmark´s only orchid nursery with more than 3000 different orchids. Queen Margrethe often visits the nursery, which has won hundreds of awards. There is also a shop. Hammermøllen, Hellebæk It served as an arms factory from 1765-1870. The water mill´s paddle wheel lifted the hammer, which fell down onto the item to be forged. There is a nice café with outdoor seating. |
