Kronborg - Hamlet´s Castle
Thanks to Shakespeare´s Hamlet, Kronborg is one of Denmark´s best-known buildings and now also on UNESCO´s World Heritage List. Anyone who visits the castle today can see much of its former glory and grandeur. It has Scandinavia´s biggest knights´ hall, a beautiful castle chapel, powerful bastions, the council hall with the seven royal tapestries and the gruesome, dark dungeons and casemates where the Danish national hero Holger the Dane welcomes his guests.

Fantastic views from Kronborg
Enjoy the fantastic views over the Sound and Skåne from the castle´s biggest tower. You can also look at Kronborg´s cannons, the oldest still in use in the world today. The cannons are used for the Queen´s Birthday and other occasions.

Hamlet Sommer
Every year in August, Hamlet Sommer is arranged at Kronborg. It is a festival with Danish and international productions of Shakespeare´s classic drama about Prince Hamlet. Over the years, many well-known actors have stood on the stage in Kronborg Castle courtyard.

The Carmelite Monastery and the Church of St. Mary
The monastery was founded in 1430 and is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved monasteries in Northern Europe. You can walk through the monastery passages, music rooms and refectory. The Church of St. Mary has well-preserved murals and a newly renovated organ that Buxtehude, the German composer, played when he was an organist here in the 1660s.

Cathedral of St. Olai
The oldest part of the cathedral dates from the 13th century but was not completed until 1480-1559. The interior is in Baroque style. The distinctive cathedral tower is 68 m high.
